This year marks the 200th anniversary of the bloody Battle Of New Orleans. American troops led by General Andrew Jackson came from far and wide to help battle the British troops, but many believe it was the pirate Jean Lafitte whose involvement helped turn the tide of the war. Lafitte made a deal with Jackson for him and his men to fight alongside the Americans in exchange for pardons. After the war Jackson praised Lafitte and his men for "exhibiting the same courage and fidelity" as his troops.
Paying homage to Jackson, this Saucony Courageous takes its color palette right off his shoulders. The uppers consist of navy and cream velvet suede and gold leather. The tongue features a perforated leather tongue tab with a gold printed icon of Jackson on the front topped off with 3m piping. Each insole features a flag sewn in to the heel. The right being the flag of the Americans and the left features the flag of Cartagena which the infamous pirate Jean Lafitte flew over his ships. All this sits on top of a blood red outsole dirtied by Jackson as he made his way through the battlefield.
Each pair will come with the box pictured, 3 sets of laces (White, Navy and Gold) and the three Battle of NOLA stickers.
Every pair sold in-store will receive the three gold pins (Cannon, P logo and the Jackson).
