Instinct and Survival The Story Behind the Politics x Adidas Adizero Goukana 'Roadkill'
February 24, 2026
Adidas partners with Politics once again, this time drawing inspiration from the long stretches of West Texas highways and the quiet tension that lives between movement and stillness. With the Politics x Adidas Adizero Goukana 'Roadkill', we wanted to explore the space where instinct meets survival, where not everything makes it across and the landscape tells its own story. This project is rooted in open roads, dry air, and the resilience found in overlooked places.
The name sets the tone. Out on those highways, there is a certain rawness to the terrain, shaped by heat, distance, and time. We pulled from textures you might pass without noticing, grounding the upper in layered materials that feel worn in rather than polished. Subtle tonal shifts move throughout the build, reflecting the natural contrast of desert earth against open sky.
The details carry that narrative forward. Suede and nubuck overlays wrap the open mesh base with a structure that calls back to natural armor, while soft accents break through the neutral foundation to add dimension. The gradient midsole introduces depth underfoot, creating a visual shift that feels organic rather than forced. Branding at the heel and insole remains understated, allowing the story to speak first.
At its core, the Adidas Adizero Goukana is a new silhouette shaped by Adidas performance innovation. Built with lightstrike cushioning, it delivers responsive comfort designed for long days on the move without sacrificing its bold stance. The layered construction and modern proportions push it beyond sport, giving it a place in today’s evolving rotation.
'Roadkill' is less about shock value and more about acknowledgment. It recognizes the overlooked details of the highway and the resilience found in harsh environments. With the Politics x Adidas Adizero Goukana 'Roadkill', we translated that spirit into a shoe that balances performance, texture, and lived in storytelling shaped by the open road.
