During Super Bowl Weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting Complex for an episode of Sneaker Shopping with the legendary Deion Sanders. Deion is an icon, having excelled as a two-sport professional athlete, and also an incredible father, coaching his sons from peewee football all the way to the collegiate level. This man truly can do it all. Deion is one of those superstars who has shaped the culture beyond the playing field. His swag and confidence made him one of the most influential sports figures ever, and that success led to him becoming one of Nike's most renowned partners.
In this episode, JLP and Deion discuss Sanders' sneaker memories from his early days with Nike, as well as some of his favorite shoes from his personal line with the brand. We learn that Sanders is truly a man of influence—he created one of the most sought-after shoes in the brand's history, all while playing on both the football and baseball fields, which is no easy feat, especially compared to stars like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, who could showcase their products on the court.
Sanders also revealed a brand-new colorway of the Nike Air DT Max, which is set to be a limited release later this year. We had the honor of designing and gifting Deion Sanders and his family some limited-edition Politics x Nike jackets. After the show, Deion stuck around to sign a few pairs of his new Nike Diamond Turfs before heading out.
